First, install Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is a necessary tool. You can easily and quickly add or remove various code snippets on your website or in your mobile application with its help.

First, register your account at https://tagmanager.google.com/. At the time of registration, submit a name for your account and a
container name (its a JavaScript code that is inserted on all pages of the website).

After you confirm reading the license agreement, Google Tag Manager code will be available to you:

Place the resulting code on all pages of your website after the <body> tag

Now we will install the Google Analytics tracker on your website.
To get the Google Analytics tracker code, go to https://analytics.google.com and complete the sign-up process.

After you have filled out all the required fields, select your industry and time zone from the lists and proceed to receive the Google Analytics tracking code.
After confirming the license agreement, you will be able to access the Google Analytics tracking code.
Install the resulting code on all pages of the website between the <head> and </head> tags.

Setup Google Analytics tracker via GoogleTag Manager

Once Google Tag Manager is installed on the website, let’s see how to set up the Google Analytics tracking code with its help. Go to the Container tab and choose to Add a new tag: 1

Select the Universal Analytics tag.

You will need to get the code UA-XXXXX-X from your Google Analytics and enter it into the correct section. Do not click the “Save” button! You must tell GTM when you want to run this tag!

Now, make sure that the tag works every time someone views a page on your website.

Check the tag settings.

Click “Save” and you will see a summary of the changes you made. Keep in mind that this tag is still not published on your website! You can make a lot of changes and check each parameter before deciding to post changes on your website.

Now that the tag is properly configured, you can publish it on the website. Click “Publish” and you will be asked to document the changes. This is necessary, especially if several administrators work on your website.

Simply click the “Publish” button, and the version is saved with the details of editing the tag. Now Universal Analytics works on your website.
